No one knows exactly why some people are more prone to acne break-outs than others. But for those who suffer from severe acne break-outs, one right after another, it can ruin their social life and self-esteem. Teenagers are particularly susceptible to feeling of poor self-worth and those pimples, blackheads, and acne scars only make such things worse. While no one can promise you that you will never have another zit or acne break-out there are things you can do to help prevent those break-outs before they occur and lessen the severity of those that do occur.
The number one key to keeping acne at bay is by keeping those areas most prone to acne break-outs clean and as oil free as possible. You can do this by washing those areas most prone to those acne break-outs twice a day using a mild skin cleanser that is free from dyes and perfumes. Follow this cleansing with a good anti-stringent. Once a week, do a vinegar rinse combining apple cider vinegar with warm water (avoid contact with eyes) followed by a clear water rinse. The vinegar will help keep bacteria from building up on the skin.
In addition to keeping your skin clean you also need to keep your hair clean and away from your face and shoulders as the natural oils from your hair can get on your skin and clog your pores resulting in blackheads.
Diet is also important to good acne prevention. There is a lot of truth to the saying “You are what You eat.” and eating a healthy diet is key to not only keeping your mind and body healthy, but your skin as well. Eating plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables will give you the needed vitamins, minerals, and anti-oxidants you need to keep your skin healthy and bright. Drinking plenty of water will keep your skin hydrated and flush toxins from your system that contribute to those acne break-outs.
In addition to eating healthy foods you should also try to avoid foods that are deep fried or oily and greasy as well as avoiding those sugary soft drinks and large amounts of chocolates.
Women should avoid wearing heavy oil based foundation make-up and also make sure to wash your make-up off each night as your pores need to breathe and prolonged use of make-up can clog your pores resulting in acne break-outs.
Rounding out your anti-acne skin care regime with some daily exercise and fresh air has also shown some signs of helping keep acne at bay.
By following these few simple tips you can reduce the frequency of acne break-outs and in some cases prevent acnes altogether.
